Thank you!

I'm David Tristman, a Brooklyn-based art director, coder, illustrator, and teacher. With nearly two decades of experience, I have worked for a wide variety of clients in the areas of native advertising, financial & corporate, healthcare, beauty/fashion/luxury, consumer markets, and illustration & animation. I am also experienced in responsive front-end coding and Wordpress theme development. I currently freelance in NYC.

Let's work together.

Native Advertising

Some examples of custom article pages that I designed for advertiser’s paid programs with The Wall Street Journal.

Many of the programs were long form articles which included multiple components such as infographics, audio and video, as well as traffic-driving ads.

Financial & Corporate

A variety of web pages, ad units, and custom Wordpress themes that I designed and/or maintained for clients of The Wall Street Journal.

A few recent landing pages, ad units, and HTML newsletters I designed for healthcare brands and pharmaceuticals.

Beauty / Fashion / Luxury

I have created designs for a variety of clients in the beauty, fashion and luxury industries. Past clients include Matrix (L'Oreal), Bliss, fashion designers KaufmanFranco, and modern furniture dealer Nicholas Kilner.

I designed and built KaufmanFranco.com a few years ago and incorporated HTML5 background video. A new, responsive site is in the works.

For Nicholas Kilner's website, I created a fully responsive Wordpress custom theme that he can update and maintain on his own.

Consumer Markets

These are a few examples of rich media ads, landing pages, websites, and articles I designed for consumer markets, as well as clients of WSJ.

For bb's kitchen, I designed and built a simple custom responsive Wordpress theme that the client can maintain.

Metrie.com sells high-end architectural finishings. I was part of the production team and helped build this responsive, e-commerce site.

See also Beauty / Fashion / Luxury above.

Illustration & Animation

In 2006, I designed and animated the opening title sequence of HBO's sitcom, Lucky Louie. The entire animation was drawn by hand and then sequenced in AfterEffects. It was then shot on 16mm film to give an even further retro quality. For the titles, I created a simple hand-drawn font.

Electoral Dysfunction (2012) is a humorous documentary film narrated by Mo Rocca about the history and strangeness of voting in America. For this film, I created a series of hand-drawn graphics and animations. Watch a clip here and here. See a segment on the electoral college (featuring some of my illustrations) from the NY Times.

My illustrations have also appeared in The NY Times, Washington Post, Nickelodeon, and others. More of my illustration work can be seen at tristman.com and on my Instagram.
